Porsche 911 GT3 laps the Nürburgring in a blistering 7m 12s

The new Porsche 911 GT3 has set one of the fastest Nürburgring times in production car history.

Driving a ‘standard trim’ car, Porsche test driver, Lars Kern set a lap time of 7 mins, 12.7 secs, knocking an incredible 12.3 seconds off the previous GT3’s best time.

Porsche GT boss, Andreas Preuninger said, “A few years ago, lap times like this could only ever be achieved by thoroughbred racing cars with slick tyres. The new GT3 can now achieve this with comparatively modest power, but is still fully suited to everyday use.”

The new 911 GT3 is powered by a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat-six, delivering 493bhp – 24bhp more than its predecessor.  Top speed is 198mph, with a 0-62mph time of 3.4 secs.

The facelifted GT3 is available to order now, priced at £111,802.
