Porsche launch new 911 Carrera T

Porsche continue their expansion with the launch of the new 911 Carrera T. The new model aims to offer a more engaging driving experience than the Carrera and Carrera S, without the six figure price tag associated with the GT3.

The Carerra T will use the same turbocharged 3-litre flat-six found in the standard Carrera, which generates 365bhp and 332lb ft of torque. It will also feature a 7-speed manual gearbox with shorter gear ratios, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds, a tenth faster than on the standard Carrera. A PDK gearbox can still be specified for those not interested in a manual option.

The new model will benefit from a GT3-style weight reduction. Thinner rear and side glass will be used along with the option to remove the sound system, all adding up to a 20kg weight saving over a standard Carrera. PASM Sport adaptive dampers will be standard on the Carrera T, dropping the ride height by 10mm, as well as the Sport Chrono Pack, Porsche’s Sport Exhaust with centrally mounted exhaust outlets and a mechanical limited slip differential.

The 911 Carrera T is priced just over £85k, which is an £8k hike over a standard Carrera, however by specifying the options from the T on a standard Carrera would end up costing more than the £85k asking price.

The Carrera T is available to order now, with first deliveries expected to reach customers in January 2018.
