Porsche reveal 911 Speedster concept
The new Porsche 911 Speedster concept has been revealed and it will feature the hardcore running gear from the GT3. This Speedster is Porsche’s ultra-exclusive present to itself to mark its 70th birthday later in 2018.
Coming out of the Porsche Motorsport Centre, the Speedster will use the same drivetrain from the GT3, the naturally aspirated 4.0-flat-six engine that generates 493bhp and a near 9000rpm redline. The sleek Speedster design loses its roof and is completely open-top (apart from a lightweight tonneau cover). It adopts a stockier, poised stance thanks to adopting the Carrera 4 Cabriolet’s wide body, with a steeper windscreen and lower, steeper windows. The concept design features a silver/white paint scheme, with a light brown Aniline leather interior and carbon-backed bucket seats.
The concept is reportedly heading to production, with order books opening later in 2018 and first deliveries expected to arrive in 2019. No indication of price has been given yet, however the last Speedster cost £50,000 more that the GT3 at the time. The 911 Porsche Speedster will be making an appearance at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
