Porsche have revealed the new 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman T which feature kit from the ‘S’, but will offer a purer driving experience than the ‘S’ models. Porsche is aiming the Cayman T straight at the well-received (currently sold out) new Alpine A110, with the Cayman undercutting the A110 Premier Edition by £700.
The Cayman T shares the same powertrain from the standard 718 Cayman, which generates 297bhp resulting in a 0-62mph sprint time of 5.1sec for the manual or 4.7sec for the PDK from the turbocharged 2-litre flat-four engine. The Cayman T receives several upgrades that were previously exclusive to the Cayman S. New standard equipment includes PASM sports suspension, Sport Chrono package, 20-inch wheels, a sports exhaust and other upgraded options.
The Cayman T also boasts some bespoke features, such as shortened gear ratios, Cayman T decals and grey finishes to the mirror caps and wheels. All these extra features would take a standard Cayman to £54k, so it makes the T look good value at £51,145. The Boxster T costs from £53,006.
