Range Rover Sport Coupé set to rival the X6
Jaguar Range Rover is tipped to release a new road-based SUV coupe to compete against the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
The rumoured new model, codenamed L560, will target a sportier road-focused luxury SUV market. Although being kept under wraps, it is expected that the new model will be developed using the same lightweight aluminium chassis and suspension system of the Jaguar F-Pace to deliver a more aggressive drive.
The Range Rover Sport Coupé would come in at 4.7m long, sitting in the middle of the range between the marque’s 4.4m long Evoque and 4.85m Sport models, aiming to draw in the urban market. Both a 2 + 2 seating arrangement and a 2 + 1 layout will be offered, with updates in styling across the cabin and exterior, including a sloping roofline and tight rear overhang. Even more luxury will be injected into the new model, offering a wider range of premium quality materials and finishes.
In terms of the powertrain, a full-electric or hybrid option will be available, as well as a choice of JLRs extensive range of diesel and petrol engines.
JLR are keeping their cards close to their chest, however the new model is expected to be revealed in 2017 and should carry a price tag of around £90,000.
