Range Rover Velar SVR on Course for 2018 Debut
An ultra-hot Range Rover SVR has been spotted testing ahead of its expected October 2018 launch. The Velar SVR will use the same supercharged 5.0-litre V8 found in JLR’s other SVR offerings and is expected to produce 542bhp and a potential 0-62mph time of around 4.2 seconds.
The model’s chassis is still reportedly being tweaked by SVR’s engineers, with high speed testing having already been carried out at the Nurburgring. A host of weight saving measures will be deployed to drop the overall kerb weight, including a set of lighter alloy wheels as pictured. Tweaks to the air suspension settings will be made, including adaptive dampers, as well as a more aggressive SVR specific mode.
Take away the camo and the SVR doesn’t look too different from the R-Dynamic version. The front bumper features slightly different air intakes alongside the central one, whilst the rear bumper has gained a diffuser that’s nestled between new exhaust exits.
Whilst unconfirmed, pricing is expected to start around the £90’000 mark for the SVR, with the new model potentially on UK roads as early as October 2018.
