Rare 1968 Porsche 908 ‘Short-Tail’ heading for auction
This rare Porsche 908 Works ‘Short-Tail’ is set to lead RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey auction in August later this year. Chassis number 908-010 was the tenth 908 to be built by Porsche and was only raced once, where it crashed out early of the 1968 Spa 1000Km race.
Following the crash, the 908 was put into storage in Switzerland, where it remained until it was purchased in the 1990s and shipped to the US for restoration. The ‘Short-Tail’ still features its original, repaired chassis, as well as a pristine flat-eight engine.
This rare Porsche is estimated to fetch between $2.3-2.8 million and will be heading to auction between the 24th-25th August 2018.
