Record Growth for the UK Car Market. 

According to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, new retail car registrations increased by 3.4% in February compared to last year.  

Even though February is considered to be one of the quietest months of the year due to the March plate change, in overall, the market grew by 12% with 76,958 new cars registered.

As the UK continues to bounce back from the recession and consumer demand has been driven by exciting new products and attractive finance deals, the number of new cars registered has grown for a 36th consecutive month in February. This is the longest ever growth for the UK car market, beating the previous record of 26 months set in the late 1980s.

Chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Mike Hawes, said that “three years of continuous growth in the new car market is remarkable and reflects the strong upturn in the confidence of UK car buyers since the recession.”
