Salon Privé – The UK’s Most Exclusive Automotive Garden Party

From the 3rd-5th September West London’s beautiful Syon Park played host to one of the UK’s most prestigious luxury and supercar shows Salon Privé, and Oracle Finance were there too.

Highlights included the Concours d’Elegance, the Salon Privé Auction and the British Supercar Show. The event was set to be a fantastic experience and one of the highlights of this year’s motor events calendar.

The event included the Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elegance; the UK’s only professionally judged classic car competition and a showcase of some of the most rare, valuable and iconic classic cars and motorcycles ever seen. There were various categories within the competition, from Pre-War Sports Cars and Preserved for Posterity ranging to the Great Gran Turismos and the Art of Design: Zagato’s. The range of vehicles allowed each guest to see their classic and supercar fantasies become reality.

The prestigious Best of Show Award went to a beautiful 1954 Jaguar D Type.

Other winners included the People’s Choice Award going to a Dramatic Coachwork 1953 Delahaye 235 Coupe by Chapron and the Class F Winner going to Striking Bike entry of a 2014 OEM Typhoon.

Thursday saw the Silverstone Auction take place with headline lots including a Rare Ferrari Daytona; one of only 122 Ferrari Spyders, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT/L ”Lusso”, sold for £1.89 million. Aston Martin’s equally went for high prices with a 1970 DB6 MK.II Volante selling for £954,500.

DJ Chris Evans snapped up a rare 1971 Ferrari 365GTS/4 Daytona Spyder at the last minute for £1.98 million.

Jay-Kay from Jamiroquai was also in the market and bid on several classics, taking the 1960 Ferrari 250GT PF S2 Coupé for £615k and a stunning midnight blue 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback for £880k. Overall, the Auction finished with total sales of £9.9 million.

The final day saw the British Supercar show get underway. There was a key focus on Supercars, Hyper-cars, Mega-cars and Concept cars, with both recognisable brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati and then more niche manufacturers such as Spyker, Tesla and Lister. The selection of supercars and the variety of brands on display ensured there would be a supercar to suit almost anyone. The Most Spectacular Supercar Award went to the Lamborghini Huracán and the Ferrari F12 TRS was pronounced the Most Spectacular Hyper-car.

With such breath-taking collections of classics and supercars, the event was one that will not easily be forgotten. As a rare and prestigious motor event Salon Privé deserves its place amongst the leading automotive shows of the world.
