Shelby release GT40 50th Anniversary Le Mans Edition

Marking the anniversary of the remarkable GT40’s 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 Le Mans race, Shelby has commissioned a truly authentic ‘continuation’ of the Ford GT; the GT40 MKII 50th Anniversary Le Mans Edition.

In collaboration with Superformance and Safir, Shelby is recreating just 20 examples of the legendary car, focusing on authenticity and detailing.  Over 90% of the parts used in the recreation are interchangeable with the original GT40.  This version is eligible for the GT40 Register, as Superformance and Shelby licence the GT40 name and the car’s have proper GT40-style chassis and serial numbers.

The Le Mans Edition, true to the original, comes in right-hand drive with right-hand shift (left-hand drive optional), and is available in a choice of three colour schemes to match the 1966 1-2-3 race cars.  It features modern suspension, brakes, air conditioning and a choice of engines, including Shelby’s aluminium 7.0-litre FE V8.  Priced at £120,000, the Le Mans Edition is as close as you can get to the stunning original.
