Shelby set to unveil new Tuatara hypercar…
Shelby SuperCars will bring an extra special guest to Monterey car week later this month: the 2019 SSC Tuatara.
The highly anticipated hypercar, first glimpsed back in 2011, promises an ‘unmatched drag coefficient’ and ‘track-level handling characteristics’. Shelby are confident it will “easily surpass” the world record top speed, currently 278mph, set by the Koenigsegg Agera RS.
Detailed specifications are yet to be confirmed, but when the car was first shown in 2011, Shelby quoted a top speed of 276mph from a 1,350bhp 6.9-litre biturbo V8 engine.
Ahead of its launch, Shelby said: “Years of methodical engineering applied to the Tuatara will be revealed in the unparalleled performance, driver experience and striking presence of the car,”
The big reveal will happen in Monterey on the 24th August.
