A sneak peek at Lamborghini’s 600+bhp Urus

Order books for Lamborghini’s first SUV will open later this year. The Urus is still being tested and new images reveal more of its bold styling.

Lamborghini are one of the first premium supercar specialists to delve into the SUV world. The new model will still have high performance, it has been described by the boss Domenicali as ‘a super sports car inside an SUV’ and the name Urus or ‘Auroch’ meaning Wild Ox, reflects this. The styling is vividly Lamborghini with an sharp line and an edgy front end.

The new model will use much of the same advanced technology used in the high performance supercars. It will run on a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine producing over 600bhp. The Urus features a dual-clutch gearbox, electronic dampers and the same four-wheel drive system as the new Aventador S.

The car will feature semi-autonomous technology and come with a range of driving modes. There is a plug-in hybrid powertrain rumoured to be developed for the Urus and the hopes of electric cars further down the line.

The Lamborghini Urus will be limited in production at first to encourage its exclusivity. Pricing is yet to be released however is likely to cost around £180,000.
