Spotted: The new Aston Martin Vantage GT8
Aston Martin’s new Vantage GT8 has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring ahead of its official unveiling later this month.
The new model from Aston Martin is based on the Vantage V8, but is more performance-focused. The GT8 will be the most lightweight Vantage yet, the materials used will be a combination of carbonfibre, aluminium and titanium. The new model is designed to be race-ready, with the emphasis on handling.
Spy images reveal that the bodykit is similar to the V12 Vantage; there is an extended front spoiler, fixed rear wing and rear diffuser. The interior is expected to be stripped back, giving the GT8 its track-like performance and feel. The new GT8 will be pitted against the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Performance statistics are yet to be confirmed, however the 4.7-litre V8 is likely to be retuned to give a higher power output of around 450bhp, making it capable of 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds. Both a seven-speed manual gearbox and the normal sequential manual transmission will be offered, and there will be other performance boosters offered at a premium.
Only 150 GT8s will be produced by Aston Martin; 40 of these will be destined for the UK. The starting Price for the Aston Martin Vantage GT8 is expected to be around the £170,000 mark.
