Ten ‘Stirling Moss’ Lister Jaguar Knobblys announced

The Lister Motor Company has revealed it will build ten hand-made Lister Jaguar Knobbly Stirling Moss Editions. The car will be built to the same specifications as the original 1958 Silverstone winner. The hand-made, magnesium-bodied cars will be almost exact replicas of the famous car that Sir Stirling Moss raced to victory. No original Lister Jaguar Knobbly cars still exist, making the ten new examples the only all-magnesium built cars in the world.

The Stirling Moss Editions will have the same underpinnings, including a tubular light steel chassis, and magnesium clutch, engine sump and differential casting. The new model will feature the same ‘Long Wing’ front wings used on Stirling’s 1958 car, decreasing drag.

The use of magnesium gives the car a real lightweight edge for performance and handling; it’s 30% lighter than aluminium. Lister has resorted to using material that was previously intended for helicopters.

Lister has kept the new Knobbly as authentic as possible and will paint the cars in green and yellow, mimicking the original. Each will receive a sterling silver number plaque engraved with Moss’s signature, and the lucky buyers will also be handed the car by Moss himself.

Powered by a 3.8-litre Jaguar D-Type engine, the rare special editions will be priced at £1 Million. Production for each example will take 12 – 18 weeks, with first deliveries expected in autumn 2017.
