The Most Technology Heavy SUV in its Class; New Audi Q7.

Audi has revealed the details of its all-new Q7. The big SUV, which is precisely the weight of three baby elephants, manages to have a smaller footprint but with more space inside than its predecessor.

Externally the new Q7 has been improved to match Audi’s latest range of models, with key features such as angular lights, a more protruding grille, LED highlights and 19 or 20-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin, there are many technical features which make the new Q7 the most technologically advanced SUV in its class. Audi’s latest MMI navigation, Apple Car Play, Google Android Auto, internet on board, 3D sound and the option for the ‘virtual cockpit’ found in the Audi TT are only some of the features to justify that.

The Q7 uses Audi’s 3-litre TDI V6 engine producing 268bhp and 442lb ft of torque and power is sent through an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox. Audi reckons that the Q7 will do 0-62mph in 6.5sec at a maximum speed of 145mph while also achieving a claimed 47.9 combined mpg and 153g/km CO2 output.

The new model will be available in SE and S Line spec with an option of a third row seats, and will go on sale this April with prices varying between £50,340 and £53,835.  A lower-powered 215bhp version of the 3-litre TDI engine will be offered later in the year together with a plug-in hybrid Q7 e-tron Quattro which will be coming late in 2015.
