The New 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport

The New 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport

Available in January, the Discovery Sport is set to replace the entry level Freelander. With prices starting from £32,395 the redesigned and lengthened new model is set to open Land Rover to the SUV market.

The technology packed new infotainment system is central to the new model along with the new rear suspension and the 5+2 seating format, which has been added in order to cater to the SUV speciality emphasis of the practicality of the Freelander and the luxury of the Range Rover.

Gerry McGovern has said of the new Discovery Sport that it is “a pioneering model in a forthcoming generation of the Discovery that will show premium positioning can be combined with practicality.”

The Discovery Sport also has a new dynamic shape. The model is 80mm longer than the Freelander and it sits lower. It’s less boxy without losing any of its compact nature. The model has been aerodynamically optimised and the drag factor refined by a process combining computer techniques and authentic wind tunnel testing.

The interior design of the model has been noted as “premium but not precious,” emphasising strong vertical lines with its prominent centre console. It has a versatile seating arrangement allowing for up to 7 seats.
