The new Ford GT goes live

Ford’s exclusive new supercar is now available to order through a specialist website.

The first 500 GTs are now up for grabs, with Ford planning to produce just 250 examples per year, ensuring their rarity.  A lengthy application process is required before anyone can get their hands on the hotly anticipated car, and priority for the first run will be given to previous GT owners.  The new website for the GT also allows potential customers to configure the interior and exterior in a range of colours and materials.

The new GT features a mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 Ecoboost engine, producing over 600bhp delivered through a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.  Lightweight materials (mainly Carbonfibre) have been used for the body, to give the car a good power-to-weight ratio.  Suspension for the GT uses a torsion bar and adjustable pushrod set up, with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard.  Styling, internally and externally, offers a host of customisation.

Two Special Edition GT models will be released later, however these are being kept tightly under wraps.

The GT will make its European racing debut at Silverstone this weekend on 17th April.  Pricing is yet to be confirmed, however a base price around £300,000 can be expected.  The order application deadline for the first run of GTs is the 12th May 2016.
