Updated Porsche Macan revealed in China
The facelifted Porsche Macan SUV has been unveiled in Shanghai. The latest Macan has undergone a facelift and also benefited from some significant changes, including removing the popular (to the UK market) V6 diesel engine.
Styling for the new Macan has been slightly updated, with the latest iteration receiving a full-width LED light strip on the rear and new LED headlights, which closely resemble headlights from the latest Porsche models. Other notable changes are to the improved chassis and new 20- and 21-inch alloy wheels, as well as the new colours; Miami Blue, Mamba Green Metallic, Crayon and Dolomite Silver. Inside, a new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system dominates the front cabin with a new 11-inch HD touchscreen. Continuing with technology, the new Macan receives a Traffic Jam Assist function, which works with the adaptive cruise control to automate acceleration, braking and steering up to 37mph. A heated windscreen and an ioniser for improving air quality and a 911-style GT sports steering wheel round-off the interior upgrades.
The most significant change to the new Macan is the engine options. Porsche have dropped the V6 diesel engine from the range, a significant move as the V6 diesel made up the majority of UK sales. Powering the Macan and Macan S in its place sits the existing 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, with 252bhp and the turbocharged 3-litre V6 with 351bhp. The Turbo receives the range-topping 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine which generates 434bhp.
No official pricing or UK sale date has been confirmed yet; however, we can expect the new Macan to arrive to the European market later in the year.
