Banish the January Blues with a new car
After all the fun and excitement of the holiday season, January always feels a bit of a letdown. No surprise then that many people complain that they feel low, tired and, well, just not motivated. So much so that it’s officially Blue Monday on 19th January this year.
How can you overcome this common malady? Well, how about getting a new car? It could be the ideal time as we look at why January is the perfect month to get behind the wheel of your dream car.
Dealers are desperate to sell
January is a great time to visit your local classic, sports or prestige car dealership. This is because there are great deals to be had.
One reason for this is that sales tend to be slow this time of year. Which is bad news for them, but good news for you. As dealers are trying to hit targets at the slowest time of the year for car sales, they’re willing to give better discounts than normal. Especially as they want to make room for new stock.
New number plates come out in March
Another consideration is the launch of the new number plate at the start of March. Showrooms don’t want pre-registered cars clogging up space. Which means that if you’re not wedded to securing a 26 plate, you could make quite a saving. Especially as discounts go up in line with the higher prices of premium cars.
There are better deals on convertibles
As you might imagine, most people think about getting a convertible over the spring and summer months, not the height of winter. Which is exactly the best time to buy because when it comes to soft-tops, their prices drop as temperatures fall.
Low demand over winter means better deals and incentives for you. There is also more choice as they’re not being snapped up as people still cling onto the belief that convertibles aren’t good winter cars due to ‘dodgy roofs’ that let damp in. But this couldn’t be further from the truth as modern models are highly engineered to be watertight.
In addition, sports cars like many Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes, Audi and BMW convertibles feature not just heated steering wheels and seats, but also a ‘virtual scarf’ that keeps your head and neck warm thanks to air vents in the headrests blowing warm air. Ideal for the January drive home from the dealership with the roof down.
It’s also a better time to buy a classic car
Classic cars suffer from the same price fluctuations as convertibles due to sales slowing over winter. A lower demand also means less competition for sought-after models for more bargaining power and longer to consider your all-important purchase. As soon as Spring arrives prices begin rising, so it pays to be stay one step ahead.
