The Most Intriguing Vehicles Funded In 2023

As well as the excitement of the supercars, hypercars and rare classics that make up many of our Funding Highlights of 2023 we also find that the more intriguing vehicles that people require funding for are just as interesting. With our panel of over 20 lenders and more than 18 years of expertise in the industry, year after year we fund unusual and less expected vehicles of all shapes and sizes that are customers may be surprised to find out that we even fund.

Looking back over the past 12 months we have put together a breakdown of some of the most intriguing and unusual vehicles that we have funded during 2023. Some, like the track cars and motorhomes you may be expecting to see, whilst others, such as construction or industrial equipment, you may not be.

Track Cars

One of the more obvious categories but equally one of the most interesting to automotive enthusiasts are the track cars. Each year we source funding for our customers who are looking for something special to enjoy on the track or at weekends, when the unpredictable summer weather is finally in their favour and they can get out and enjoy our exceptional driving roads or racing circuits.

Cars like the Ariel Atom 3.5 that we funded for one of our customers, a car specifically designed for one reason, to excel on a track and handle like nothing else. Whilst other cars are adapted and improved to achieve such results, the Atom was created from the ground up to show what is possible with minimum weight and precision handling.

Another car we funded that was formulated for a similar reason is the Noble M12 GTO 3R. With 350bhp from its twin-turbocharged engine, a kerb weight of just over 1,000kg and statistics that are just as impressive 20-years later, the M12 was given an abundance of praise by motoring journalists around the world. Its rarity and high regards for what it achieved from such a small team and budget means it is still a highly sought after car by those in the know over 20 years since it was launched.

While the Atom and the M12 were built specifically for providing track thrills, track focussed versions of some of the most iconic models from the past few years are also just as capable on the road and the track. This year we had the pleasure of funding models such as the latest Lamborghini Huracan STO and the legendary Porsche 911 GT2 RS amongst others. Both cars are a demonstration of what can be achieved when some of the biggest names in motorsport engineering put their minds to creating a no holds bared extreme version of already exciting and capable vehicles.

Motorhomes

At the other end of the scale somewhat are the many motorhomes and campervans that we fund each year. The perfect vehicle to get away from it all whilst enjoying your very own home from home and for many examples, with all the creature comforts and convenience that you enjoy in your own house. With everything from a converted van wheelbase to almost a truck chassis, the range and differentiation between models is a vast as the car world, and the customisation options even more so.

One of the most impressive vehicles from this genre that we funded in 2023 was the Chic model from Carthago. A large motorhome with almost limitless customisation and bespoke fitting options, Carthago recreational vehicles are the premium choice for elegance, comfort and creating your very own custom home that you can take with you wherever you go.

For those looking for something (only slightly) smaller yet with the ability to offer just as much in the way of customisation and features, we also sourced funding for a Chausson Titanium 720. Both offer the ultimate way to travel to wherever the road takes you without the need to find a place to stay when you get there.

Commercial Vehicles

You may not already know that we can also source funding for commercial vehicles, equipment and sometimes even machinery through our extensive panels of lenders. Each year as well as funding vans and pickup trucks for businesses, often a few at the same time, we also fund lorries of all shapes and sizes and for so many multiple uses.

2023 was no exception with funding arranged for the likes of the Iveco Cargo Tector tipper truck, the staple of trucking in the Scania P-Series range of lorries and the Eurocargo 75E16. Familiar sights on roads in the UK but probably jot one you would think could be funded through ourselves.

Amongst the other commercial equipment and vehicles that were funded in the past 12 months include a Manitou MLT 735-120 telehandler. Perhaps the most unexpected of all the commercial equipment however was a Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1 crane, at 40 tonnes sure to be the largest and heaviest vehicle we funded over the past year.

Motorbikes

You may be surprised to know that we can also fund certain types of motorbike and each year provide funding for a handful of fantastic bikes of all shapes and sizes. This year was no exception as we funded one of the most well-known sport motorcycles in the shape of the Ducati Panigale. The very definition of what a Ducati is all about.

A couple of other notable motorbikes that we funded in 2023 came from one of the most iconic names of all time, Harley Davidson. Some exquisite bikes funded came in the form of the Harley Davidson FLCB Sport Glide and the Harley Davidson Softail.

Classic Cars

Understandably some of the most interesting funding highlights are the classic car purchases. The passion and enthusiasm from the buyers as well as the interesting stories about why they are buying a particular classic car are always an interesting part of their funding journey. Whether it is their first classic, an addition to an impressive collection of vehicles or perhaps their first experience of purchasing something at an auction, the fascinating anecdotes are always worth a listen.

Some of the most notable classic cars we sourced funding for during 2023 include a rather unique 1948 Bentley MkVI and also a Bentley MkVI Sports Special from the following year. The number of British classics continued with a 1961 Austin Healey Sports, a 1969 Austin Coopers S, a 1970 Sunbeam Tiger and a 1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. There was also funding acquired for what surely will become a future classic in the form of a 1999 Bentley Brooklands R, a rare and exquisite example of an appreciating late 90’s icon.

Amongst the hundreds of Porsche 911’s both new and old we also sourced funding for seemingly every generation of the lineage, from the latest 992 Dakar right back to a rather special 1968 Porsche 912.

Future Classics

Future classics are something that everyone can appreciate whatever your age. Cars that your parents might have taken you to school in when you were younger or perhaps that you even owned as your first car are increasingly becoming in demand and appreciating in value. In our post from earlier in the year, Surprisingly Rare Cars You Might Have Once Owned, we took a look at those very cars that are much rarer than you might have imagined and that are verging on classic car status.

Some of the more notable cars that we funded during 2023 that are surely assured future classic car status include desirable models such as a few Aston Martin V12 Vantage and Vantage S models, TVR models including a 2011 Tuscan, early 90’s TVR S Convertible and a late model Sagaris. From the 1980’s we also sourced funding for a lovely 1980 Rolls Royce Corniche and from the other end of the motoring spectrum, but considered very much a future classic these days, a 1984 MG Metro.

American Muscle

As well as the supercars and sports cars that catch our attention throughout the year, the range of American Muscle vehicles are also an impressive spectacle. With the availability of many newer American models becoming more available on UK shores these days, there were an abundance of brand new cars funded throughout 2023.

More notable were a few Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible models, with 3 of them collected in the same week for our understandably excited customers. As well as the sports cars there were also a number of American pick up trucks funded throughout the year, a few Ford F150 models, The Biggest Selling Car In The World, and a Dodge Ram Laramie, one of the most luxurious pickup trucks money can buy.

Alternative

As well as the thousands of vehicles we fund over the course of 12 months, there are also some more obscure items that we sourced funding for throughout 2023. Together with the commercial vehicles mentioned above, there are a number of funding opportunities that are a bit more alternative.

Some of the more car related are the trailers used to transport vehicles around, often to and from the racetrack, of which we funded a number of in 2023. Then there are the funding opportunities for industrial equipment such as the Combilift C4000 forklift truck that we funded. But perhaps the most unusual item to fund throughout 2023 was a machine specifically designed to produce plastic piping and ducting.
